Gaming Next Semester
It's time to figure out what we're going to play this semester. Is anyone else planning to run anything?

I'd be most interested in playing in a Shadowrun or Iron Kingdoms game.

Call of Cthulhu 0 Votes
Torchwood-inspired. (If you don't know Torchwood, it's basically a British X-Files set in the Doctor Who universe) Set locally.

Deadlands 2 Votes
A rather more traditional game than the last one. Would involve travelling throughout the West, on both sides of the Mason-Dixon line.

World of Darkness 1 Vote (actually 2 half-votes)
The least traditional of the games... I would be using the WoD rules and character stuff, but using a setting based on the world of Vampire Hunter D, the books moreso than the movies.

These are what I'm most interested in running, though if there are enough of you want, I can continue the D&D game. 2 Votes

EDIT: Now with vote tallies...

Caitirin says she votes for Deadlands first, and World of Darkness second, but they all sound like fun :)

I concur, although I think I'm pretty even on my interest in Deadlands and World of Darkness. I'm interested in hearing the difference between the Vampire Hunder D movies and the books. Either one (and correct me if I'm wrong) would let me dress my character in 19th century fashions, and you know I'm all over the Victorian things right now.

Yup, 19th century dress would be entirely appropriate...but so would coveralls, armor, or jeans. It's all very ecclectic. The books are a lot darker, and are written in the style much like the old pulp novels. There's also a lot more technology in them that doesn't really show up in the movies; it gets replaced with magic (which also exists).

Yeah, I'm really enjoying them so far. Almost done with the third...

I finished book 3 last night, and it is vastly different from the movie they made of it. The relationship between Leila and her brothers was not so nice, and they changed pretty much everything from the point where D enters the village of the Barbarois. There is no Carmilla or castle at the end. Two of the Barbarios bodyguards hired by Mayerling (Meier Link in the movie) are vastly different...one is a dhamphir and the other is a symbiote like Left Hand.

Ok. So we've got two votes for Deadlands and two for D&D.

I am still deciding what I want to play more, but I do have the dates in advance for which I won't be available. February 6th, March 20th and April 17th.

No problem. Those dates should be easily workable. Doing anything fun?

Yep. The 6th and 20th are shows at the Brickhouse. My friend Russ' band is on the first date, and the Growlers & Pubcrawlers are on the second. Then the 17th is Econocon up in Plymouth.

Cool.

Maybe I can get time off and actually go to Econocon for once...
